THE WEARSTLER WHIRL
How does she do it? Mother, wife, interior designer, entrepreneur (she owns the L.A.  architectural interior design firm kwid) and one of our favorites, Kelly Wearstler has a new book out this month, Hue, which features recent, unpublished projects, including her home in Beverly Hills, celebrity residences and some of her latest hotel designs.

Kelly’s work is compelling, always imaginative and deliciously unique. You can see her imagination at work in hotels, private homes and restaurants (Maison 140, Avalon, and BG in Bergdorf Goodman where she also has her own in-store boutique) around the world including the Tides Hotel in Miami Beach and the chain of Viceroy hotels owned by her husband, Brad Korzen.  Hue builds on the success of her first books, Modern Glamour, and Domicilium Decoratus. Wearstler is also the designer of her own kwid line of furnishings and accessories.
COSMOPRENEUR
Cosmo cocktails were the spark for Lolita’s (yes, just one name) business. In 2001, out with her girlfriends, she ordered a Cosmo for the first time but was “appalled at how naked and boring” their glasses were; so the artist in her came up with what proved to be a great idea.

The next day, she decided to start hand-painting and selling glasses out of her basement. With two toddlers hanging onto her legs, she worked day and night designing glasses to represent special moments and personalities with a recipe on the bottom.  Four million glasses later, at $25 each, she is an undeniable success.  Today, Lolita, in addition to her glasses, has launched a line of scented gel candles and ice cream sundae bowls.

Lolita's newest product, Beach towels, as well as bedding, shower curtains, aprons and table cloths will soon be available nationwide. In Spring 2010 she will launch a line of textiles: From housewife to entrepreneur, Lolita’s success proves that you can do it too.  What’s your mompreneur idea? Go for it, now!  In the meantime, to purchase Lolita’s line of products go to: www.thelolitastore.com.

BROWN BEAUTY
Brigitte Brown is an inspiration. Seeing a need for natural skin care at an affordable price, Brown, with three kids to care for, still found time to conduct two years of rigorous research and development, which resulted in her own line of  products, Brown Olive Natural Skin Care. She describes the line as “the fountain of youth that everyone is looking for.” Well, hallelujah! We’re on board with that. “I really wanted to do something that was affordable, natural and unique,” says Brown. She found the magical ingredient was Himalayan Crystal Salt.

Brown made her skin care line using every part of the olive tree as well as Himalayan Crystal Salt, which is the oldest salt on earth. Found only in the Himalayan Mountains of Pakistan, the salt "includes 84 elements and minerals found in the human body.”. You may not of heard of Himalayan Crystal Salt because Dead Sea salt is commonly used in beauty products but “it contains just over 21 minerals," says Brown. Her Himalayan Crystal Salt line includes body lotions, washes and jelly’s; lip balms; aromatherapy body bars;  bath salts, massage oils,  bath bombs, and soy candles priced from $10-70.  Get it here, www.brownolive.com.
