Mobi Dick, er, Jane
One more at-home relaxation tip. Mobile spas. They're not just for the wealthy anymore. Mobile spas are making in-home massages, mani/pedis and facials possible for everyday moms who want a little glamour and pampering after a stressful day of work or running the kids around from one activity to another. The nationally franchised mobileSPA, for example, has delivered custom spa parties for years and now more companies are coming on the market, which is good news for you as there’s sure to be a mobile spa company in your area.

As mobileSPA says, “they bring services worthy of a goddess (You!) straight to your home.” Services include facials, body treatments, massages, manicures, or pedicures. They’ll even transform a room of your choice with candles, aromatherapy, cocktails, music, and hors d’oeuvres. What more could you ask for?

And if you’re in the mood to share, mobile spas are great for at-home Spa parties with girlfriends to celebrate just about anything: Getting married… or divorced, Mother’s Day, a birthday, etc.  With our society’s increased focus on wellness and holistic therapies, you really don’t need much of an excuse to indulge in an at-home spa treatment as many medical and nutrition experts agree that creating a peaceful environment for our minds is just as important as taking vitamins every day. Get organized and get it together
We’ve found that organizing personal space is always a sure-fire stress reliever. Make every day a little easier by picking up all those shoes, handbags, sweaters and laundry lying around your bedroom and get creative in how you want to package them, so to speak, in an organized fashion.

Former handbag designer Sarah Shaw will help you. After five years as a designer, Sarah needed a way to organize the dozens of bags she had accumulated. Her solution? She created the Handy Hold All.™ “When I moved into my new house a few years ago, I didn't have much closet space or built-in storage,” says Sarah. “I realized that my limited shelf space was much better used for sweaters and other folded things, so when trying to figure out how to hang all my bags on the wall of my closet it dawned on me that a vertical hanger was the key.  A few trials and errors later, the Handy Hold All™ was born.”

When you’re done with your space, buy a bunch of Handy Hold Alls for your teen or tweens as well so they can organize their rooms (virtually impossible we know but you can try) and Sarah suggests using the Handy Hold All™ for other purposes too. “It's great for holding scarves and baseball caps as well as handbags, tote bags, canvas grocery bags, etc. in the family front hall closet.” Or as a dorm room gift for new college students going off to school for the first time.  www.simplysarahshaw.com

Okay, now that you’ve organized your closet – and we hope other parts of your house – it’s time to relax a bit. Hiring a yoga instructor to come over for an hour for a one-on-one lesson is a great way to start. “Yoga was initially created to be a one on one experience,” notes Lauren Hanna, Director of New York’s popular Sonic Yoga Center.  “In the ideal situation a teacher and student would work together to create a healing practice based on the unique needs of the individual. The therapeutic healing qualities of yoga are enhanced by a strong teacher/student relationship”

Dial up your local yoga center or gym (many have yoga classes) to find a teacher who offers individual in-home classes and then create a space that’s peaceful and meditative with music, candles and lighting. At home yoga particularly makes sense for new moms. Hanna who’s a new mom herself says, “New moms deserve to be pampered! New moms need nurturing. They are giving all of their energy to their little ones and it is so nice to have a yoga teacher come and nurture you. Most yoga teachers [also] give nice adjustments and sometimes even a mini Savasana massage.”

And if they’re the right age or don’t drive you too crazy, you might want to consider taking a yoga class with your kids. It’s a great way to introduce them to the practice and relax you both; creating a harmonious home environment even it’s for short periods of time. “Yoga is a great way to bond with your infant or child.  So if the child is in the mood, it can be a great deal of fun,” Hanna tells us. “If I were going to do yoga with my child, I would want a teacher who is experienced in yoga for adults as well as the age range for my child. There are teachers who specialize in mommy baby yoga and yoga for kids.”  So get to it. There’s nothing better than a little luxurious and glamorous pampering at home, with or without the kiddies.
