KISSES, 25 CENTS
For those of us who don't have children, we never knew this problem existed but Pia Callesen did: Tired of picking her son up from daycare and finding another baby's pacifier in his mouth, Denmark native, Callesen was frustrated with being told to just scroll his name on a pacifier with a Sharpie. Her bright and brilliant idea? Why not personalize her son's pacifier instead. Callesen's idea caught fire and is now a successful company in Denmark and the U.S.

Not only can parents put the their baby's name on their  pacifier, but they have become a specific and unique trend item that boasts any quote you desire or reflects your lil' ones one-of-a-kind personality: "Mute Button," "Grandpa's co-pilot," "Lil Celtics' Fan," and "Kisses, 25 cents," to name a few. Glam Mom Nicole Richie is on board. She and baby, Harlow (below) were photographed at LAX airport sporting a My Pacifier in Harlow's pucker. The perfect gift for the special baby in your life, www.mypacifier.com.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: CELEBRI DUCKS
Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Barack Obama (!) and Betty Boop are just some of the icons that have been recreated as little duckies by the company, CelebriDucks. Your baby or tot may not recognize many of these faces yet, but they’ll certainly love the variety: The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, James Dean, KISS, The Blues Brothers, Mr. T and even Shakespeare, have been recreated by this very inventive company.  Beyond Glam Kids, the ducks are obviously popular with very adult collectors.

Over 200 different CelebriDucks are on the market, commissioned by the NBA, Major League Baseball, the NHL and NASCAR and brands like Reebok, Gatorade, AOL/TimeWarner, Southwest Airlines,  Gatorade,  Pepsi, and Office Depot,  among others.

Order for your big or little duckie this season at www.celebriducks.com.

KIDDIE BLING THINGS
Well, we present this question: How soon is it to introduce your baby, tot or tween to jewels? Well Iceing on Top thinks it’s never soon enough. As the company says, “When it comes to children, there is just no limit.”

Inspired by children and their need for expression (beyond crayons), New York City moms and founders, gemologist and financier, Shella Eckhouse and Chelsey Field, say Iceing on Top's line of fine jewelry is, “a unique treat for babies and kids – and especially the adults who love to dress them up!” Well, nuff said.

Eckhouse and Field were seeking affordable and well designed jewelry that marked milestones in children’s lives: Births, baptisms, christenings, bat mitzvahs, graduations and holidays. Not finding anything on the market, they decided to create their own line.

Iceing on Tops’ signature pieces are created from 14-karat yellow, white and rose gold that are configured into bangles, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Go to www.iceingontop.com to order and learn more.

DIMINUTIVE DESIGNING DIVA
Sarah McIlroy loved to design clothes as a kid. She says she and her mom would, “spend hours finding the right fabrics and trims and I recall the pride, satisfaction and confidence I’d feel wearing that special outfit.” Now she and her partner, Mary Beth Tirrell, have created the online site, Fashion Playtes to give other young girls the satisfaction of designing and customizing their own tops and dresses.

Targeted to girls, 6-12, they can actually choose a garment then tailor it by pre-selecting fabrics, trims, rhinestones, appliques and graphics to really individualize their outfit. They can even create their own custom brand label. Your budding fashion designer (or rather Mom) can then purchase the outfit online or save it to their collection for others to see or to buy later for a birthday or holiday present. It’s actually a very cool idea and investors think so too. The company recently announced a $1.5 million Series A backing led by New Atlantic Ventures and LaunchCapital.

McIlroy says the company wanted to target tween girls because, “Their body shape is a bit more standard and easier to fit than older girls and women.  We are launching a belt which will serve larger sizes and even adults, so we will see how this may impact our business.  We may look to expand into different segments as we grow.” So Moms, you may be able to design your own outfits  in the near future. Keep hope alive.  www.fashionplaytes.com

Note: Starting this month, just in time for the holiday season, the company is introducing gift certificates. Go to http://www.fashionplaytes.com/giftcards/newto order for your young fashionista.
