Both browsing/shopping and social networking site, StyleFeeder works says VP of Sales and Marketing, Dina Pradel, because, "it gets to know you over time." StyleFeeder, based on the continuing items you have chosen for your personal StyleFeed (a sort of virtual closet), recommends new items for you to check out once you sign in.
You can also see what other visitors are shopping for and add your soulmate style mavens (your StyleTwin) to a Watchlist so you can not only see and comment on what they have in their “closet” but continue the conversation if you chose. "Lots of our users are meeting up offline," notes Pradel signaling a whole new model for social interaction on the web. Hey, if you have the same tastes in clothes, shoes and coats (among other products) what else might you have in common?
StyleFeeder which makes much of its revenue from their users’ retail purchases, searches thousands of stores and over 14 million products to find things that match your style using a filtering technology and a recommendation engine. “We currently work with more than 2,000 retailers, including Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Target, Williams Sonoma and Bluefly,” says Pradel, “so we allow you to browse thousands of stores and millions of items on one site.”
This fall, StyleFeeder is positioning itself as a one-stop shopping site. Features will include the ability to search visually by price, category, brand, color and attribute, "basically, helping visitors to narrow down from the 100,000 pairs of women's shoes that are available on the web at any given time to the one pair that is perfect for you in no time flat."
